Training & activities

Train like it counts

Post 409 runs on repetition and realism. Cadets rotate through classroom blocks and supervised scenarios, then take what they've learned into competitions and community service.

Scenario training

  • Traffic stops — approach, contact, and officer safety
  • Building searches and room clearing
  • Domestic disturbance and crisis de-escalation
  • Active-scene command and casualty care basics

Classroom

  • Criminal and constitutional law blocks
  • Report writing and courtroom testimony
  • Radio codes, dispatch, and communications
  • Ethics, bias, and use-of-force policy

Beyond the classroom

  • Ride-alongs with sworn deputies
  • State and regional Explorer competitions
  • Community events, parades, and traffic details
  • Color guard and honor detail assignments
